Strix nebulosa – in Norway we call it Lappugle.

One of the most beautiful animals I know. It lives in different parts of Norway. Including my hometown. This year it is easy to see this owl due to the fact that there are a lot of small rodents.

Lappugla measures approximately 57–67 cm and is a large owl with a characteristically large round head with small, staring eyes. The female is the largest and typically weighs 977–1,900 g (3,000 to 1,000 g), while the smaller male typically weighs about 568–1,110 g (1,800 to 1,110 g). It is considered the largest of the typical coniferous forest owls. Ref. Wikipedia.
